Joseph H. Lumpkin is the Chief of Police for the Athens-Clarke County Unified Goverment. Unified in 1991, Athens-Clarke County was the second government in the State of Georgia to consolidate city and county governments. Lumpkin is a 42-year law enforcement veteran known for his community relationship-building skills.

As Chief of Police, Lumpkin has communicated the following vision for the police department to the community:
