Ph.D. Candidate Profile

Leslie Herbert

MSW, University of Georgia, 2005
BA, Sociology, University of Georgia, 2001

Leslie Herbert has worn many social work hats over the last 12 years, beginning while still in her MSW studies as a night supervisor at the local homeless shelter.  She continued to serve this population for seven years.  After graduating with her MSW she was subcontracted to work for the Department of Family and Children Services as a therapist and parent aide.  This work included extensive clinical contact with clients experiencing substance and behavioral addictions.   Informed by nearly a decade of direct social work practice experience, Herbert's research agenda focuses on individuals experiencing disordered gambling.
