B.S.W. Admissions
Students may enter the B.S.W. program at any point in their undergraduate studies. All students entering the program must have an overall GPA of 2.5. Throughout the program, student evaluations will determine the student's compatibility with the professional practice of social work.
For entrance into the B.S.W. program, students must first apply and be accepted to UGA via undergraduate admissions: UGA Undergraduate Information: First Year Students.
A separate application for the School of Social Work is required for entry into upper division course work. Applicants must be UGA students majoring in the B.S.W. program and must have completed SOWK 21T4, 2154L, 2155 and 2156. Applications will be distributed to eligible students at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters. For more information on applying to the B.S.W. program, contact Trelle Baker, B.S.W. Students who plan to transfer to the B.S.W. program should plan to complete the following courses or their equivalents as determined by the B.S.W. program director: PSYC 3230 or PSYC 2101, STAT 2000 and one course in Multicultural Studies. Transfer students should also plan to take the following courses as part of their core requirements: foreign language through the third semester, 2001 or above, BIOL 1103-1103L, SOWK 2154, SOWK 2154L, SOWK 2155, SOWK 2156, PSYC 1101, and SOCI 1101 or SOCI 2600.
