Trelle Baker, academic advisor for the B.S.W. program, completed the Certificate in Academic Advising at UGA. She was awarded the certificate in a ceremony on Aug. 27 at the Tate Student Center. To earn the certificate, participants are required to take six courses including two core competency courses and four electives. The program was started in 2007 to improve academic advising services for undergraduates.

"I wanted to be the best possible academic advisor I could be," Baker said. "The program provided me many opportunities to learn how to best serve a wide spectrum of students, from at-risk students to presidential scholars." She was drawn to the program because it helped define the mission and expectations of academic advising at UGA.

Baker has been with the SSW for the past five years and has been named Academic Advisor of the Year twice at the School of Social Work's Annual Awards Luncheon.
