Dr. Shari Miller received the Richard B. Russell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching at the Faculty Recognition Banquet, one of many events scheduled during UGA Honors Week. Dr. Miller was announced as one of three recipients in February of this year, but formally received the honor at the banquet.

The award was established in 1988 by the Russell Foundation and named after university alumnus and Georgia senator Richard B. Russell for his commitment to public service. The first award was given in 1992. Awardees receive a $5000 cash reward from the Russell Foundation.

Eligibility is limited to faculty involved in undergraduate instruction at the university for a minimum of three years and in a tenure-track position for no more than 10 years at the time of the award.  Recipients are not eligible to receive the award again.
