Area(s) of focus/interest: homelessness; child welfare

Honors received while attending UGA:  2017 Presidential Scholar Award for Superior Academic Accomplishment; BSW 2017 Summa Cum Laude, James D. Horne Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship three years in a row, 2017 BSW Student of the Year

Activities while at UGA:  Internship with Interfaith Hospitality Network helping homeless families; volunteering as a mentor with the Clarke County Mentorship Program, Project Safe childcare volunteer, Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society

Proudest accomplishment as a student: Studying abroad in Tanzania because I had the privilege and opportunity to get out of my comfort zone. I feel it was ethical and sustainable as it focused on what the community needed, wanted, and was asking for from us. I was able to learn basic conversational Swahili and practice both the micro interpersonal skills and macro community-based skills I have gained from social work. This trip fostered my desire to potentially do more sustainable global work in the future.

Post-graduation plans or goals: Pursue a master’s in social work with a clinical focus

Professional goal: I hope to become licensed and find my niche in either the field of child welfare or with an agency assisting those experiencing homelessness.
