Welcome to the Office of Continuing Education and Outreach

The Office of Continuing Education and Outreach serves as an integral component of the School of Social Work’s educational mission. We are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development of human service practitioners and the empowerment of communities.

Our program participants include state and nonprofit agencies, social workers, and other human service professionals. We work closely with community groups to address issues and needs and to assist them in building on their strengths.

Agency staff training and training consultation for Georgia's Department of Human Resources has been an ongoing project of ours. The continuing education programs in the School of Social Work are aimed at skills building around best practices for individual, family, and community oriented intervention. Topic areas are identified through needs assessments, customer feedback, and through continual review of what is new in the field and what is needed in our state. Programs are offered primarily in the Atlanta-Athens metropolitan areas; however, programs are offered in other areas of the state periodically.
