Dear Potential Studies Abroad Student,

The world is shrinking. Globalization affects every aspect of modern life, including the practice of social work. One of the most effective ways for you to learn to live and work in the modern era is by studying abroad. Through your experiences in another country you will learn how another culutre approaches daily life and what residents think about their country and ours.

In many study abroad programs you will study the language of your new and future clients. You will gain new perspectives on common issues and come away with fresh ideas for applying global knowledge to domestic social problems.

You are fortunate to be a student at the University of Georgia, which offers study abroad programs to 33 countries each year. Several of these programs have a specific social work focus.

Along with other social work students you might opt to immerse yourself in the culture of Northern Ireland, Tanzania or Ghana
