Dr. Laura Bierema, Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator of Adult Education, received her Ed.D. from the University of Georgia and her Masters of Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University. She teaches courses in adult learning, organization development, human resource development, and group dynamics. bierema@uga.edu
Dr. Donna L. Bliss, Assistant Professor of Social Work received the Ph.D. and M.S.W. from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Among the many courses that she teaches are program development and administration, evaluation research, and organizing community groups. dlbliss@uga.edu
Dr. Michelle Mohr Carney, Director and Graduate Coordinator of the Institute for Nonprofit Organizations and Associate Professor of Social Work, received the Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1996, the MSSA from Case Western Reserve University in 1989, and the BSSW from The Ohio State University in 1988. Dr. Carney teaches courses in nonprofit organizations, advanced community practice and program evaluation each year, and is a member of the Graduate Faculty. mmcarney@uga.edu
Dr. David Harvey, Associate Professor of Accounting, received the Ph.D. (1972) and M.S. in Accounting (1969) from the University of Minnesota. He has taught a range of courses in business and health care administration, and he is active as a consultant. dharvey@terry.uga.edu
Dr. Schnavia Smith Hatcher, Assistant Professor of Social Work, received the Ph.D. from The University of Kansas, the MSW from The University of Georgia, and the BA from Spelman College. Dr. Hatcher has taught a range of courses in evaluation of community and organizational practices, and is a member of the Graduate Faculty. shatcher@uga.edu
Dr. Thomas P. Holland, Professor of Social Work and founder of the Institute, received the Ph.D. from Brandeis University in 1972 and the MSW from Florida State University in 1966. He teaches courses in nonprofit organizations, fund-raising, and ethics in professional practice each year, and is a member of the Graduate Faculty. tholland@uga.edu
Dr. Michael J. Holosko, Pauline M. Berger Professor of Family and Child Welfare in the School of Social Work received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. He has taught in Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United States. He has consulted in a variety of large and small health and human service organizations in the areas of visioning alignment; program and practice evaluation; grantsmanship; strategic planing; and organizational effectiveness. mholosko@uga.edu
Dr. Russell N. James, Assistant Professor, Department of Housing & Consumer Economics, received his Ph.D. in Consumer & Family Economics from the University of Missouri and a J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law. He conducts research in the area of charitable giving and teaches a course in Managing Nonprofit & Special Community Housing. rjames@uga.edu
Dr. Kristina Jaskyte, Assistant Professor of Social Work, received her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. Her research and teaching focus is on innovation and change in nonprofit organizations. A native of Lithuania, she is interested in N.G.O.s around the world. kjaskyte@uga.edu
Dr. Wendy E. A. Ruona, Associate Professor of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy received her Ph.D. in community and family education at the University of Minnesota. She teaches courses in human resource and organization development, strategic human resource and organizational development, and the art and practice of consulting. wruona@uga.edu.
