In an increasingly interconnected world, the need for globally engaged social workers is more important than ever.
To this end, the School of Social Work welcomes international students from all over the world and offers students and faculty multiple opportunities for global study, research and service.
Every year in March, UGA Social Work celebrates World Social Work Day. In 2024, the event highlighted the work of our international students in Tanzania, Nigeria, and Colombia.
One large project based at the School is the Center on Human Trafficking Research & Outreach (CenHTRO). Led by Dr. David Okech, CenHTRO conducts research, develops programming, and influences policies that measurably reduce human trafficking and other forms of exploitation.
