The University of Georgia School of Social Work is proud to present the 2022 Parham Policy Day screening of the documentary film Outta the Muck in collaboration with the Georgia Conflict Center. This film will be shown at Cíne Theater on Wednesday, October 26 from 6-8 pm with limited seating. The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, Ira McKinley and Bhawin Suchak.
In-person attendance for UGA School of Social Work students, faculty, staff, and administrators is free, but they must register beforehand. Please use this survey to RSVP for in-person attendance.

Outta the Muck is a featured film in the Southern Documentary Fund film circuit throughout November and will premiere its national broadcast on Independent Lens on February 6, 2022. Told through stories that transcend space and time, Outta The Muck presents a community, and a family, that resists despair with love, remaining fiercely self-determined, while forging its own unique narrative of Black achievement. Parham Policy Day has been an annual event with the School of Social Work since 2003 and honors Thomas M. “Jim” Parham, a former School of Social Work faculty member. Mr. Parham helped to shape public social policy under President Jimmy Carter and three Georgia governors. Parham Policy Day was established by Dr. June Gary Hopps, the Thomas M. “Jim” Parham Professor of Family and Children Studies and remains a cherished annual event.
