Angela I. Romero-Shih, LMSW is a Practicum Education Coordinator at the University of Georgia (UGA) School of Social Work. With extensive experience in academic advising, student support, and social work practice, she is dedicated to fostering student success through intentional mentorship and experiential learning opportunities. In her role, she helps oversee student internship placements, ensuring that students gain meaningful, hands-on experience in social work settings that align with their professional goals and demonstrate the evidence-based practices consistent with professional standards.
Before joining the School of Social Work, Romero-Shih worked in various student support roles at UGA, including as an academic advisor and academic coach in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Exploratory Center, where she guided students in academic planning and professional development. She has also worked as a therapist in clinical and community-based settings specializing in substance use disorder treatment, providing individual and group therapy to diverse populations using evidence-based modalities. In addition to her work in higher education, she maintains a private therapy practice, supporting clients through a range of mental health challenges with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
Romero-Shih is a Double Dawg with a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from UGA. She is also a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Committed to student advocacy and comprehensive education, she continues to contribute to research, training, and mentorship efforts aimed at empowering the next generation of social workers.
