Valerie Dunn McBee, MSW, LCSW, DBT-LBC, is a Linehan Board of Certification–Certified Clinician™ in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Limited-Term Faculty at the University of Georgia School of Social Work. She maintains a clinical practice providing comprehensive DBT and trauma-focused treatment. Valerie completed intensive training through Behavioral Tech and Charlie Swenson and is trained in the DBT Prolonged Exposure Protocol (DBT-PE) for PTSD. Her additional training includes Brainspotting and advanced trauma studies through the Trauma Research Foundation.
She is the author of The 12-Week DBT Workbook and The 12-Week DBT Plan. She brings a behavioral and trauma-informed framework to her teaching and clinical work, emphasizing careful assessment, collaboration with clients, and the ethical, liberatory application of evidence-based practice within complex systems.
