Part-time Instructor

Susan M. Strickland, PhD, LCSW, has over 30 years of clinical and administrative experience focused on behavioral health with clients experiencing a wide range of mental disorders, including suicidality, substance abuse, PTSD, depression, and psychotic disorders. She has specialized in mental health, wellness and recovery, child abuse and neglect, sexual abuse and offending, and offender rehabilitation. She has extensive clinical experience with children, adolescents, and adults conducting individual, group, and family therapy in public and private settings. Currently, she is the Associate Director for Research and Evaluation for the Suicide Prevention Program, in the VA Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. Her current role focuses on the VA’s suicide prevention research portfolio, translating research to practice, and leading program evaluation efforts of suicide prevention interventions implemented across the VA healthcare system.

Since 2009, Dr. Strickland has been a part-time instructor at the University of Georgia School of Social Work.
