Part-time Instructor

Amelia is a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of professional experience, primarily in healthcare settings. Her passions include environmental justice, reproductive justice, rural health, and immigration. She began her social work career in direct practice in North Carolina, in community and hospital mental health. In 2010 Amelia transitioned to policy, program management, and training facilitation. Combining their love of adventure with their love of other cultures, Amelia and her husband joined Peace Corps Malawi in 2016. They now reside outside of Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California where Amelia is pursuing her doctorate. Her life joys include travel, hiking, reading, and her fur-babies Cricket and Teddy.
