Stephanie Hunter

Part-time Instructor

Stephanie Hunter is a forensic social worker of over 20 years and specializes in criminal indigent defense where she serves as a Capital Mitigation Specialist. Her research interests include the intersection of neuroscience, social science and the criminal justice system as well as combatting the racial and economic disparities that exist within the United States penal system. Stephanie teaches direct practice social work classes in both the foundation and concentration years. She also teaches Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Trauma Theory, and Forensic Social Work.

Stephanie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill having earned a Bachelors in Spanish, a Bachelors in Religious Studies and a Masters of Social Work. She earned her Doctor of Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
