Thomas A. Artelt
Part-time Instructor
An award-winning teacher with an interest in higher education pedagogy, Thomas Artelt has taught across all social work degree levels. At Augusta University he served as an assistant professor in the BSW program. Prior to that, he was a clinical associate professor at the University of South Carolina and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in clinical social work practice and courses in social work practice with communities and groups.
Artelt was a clinical social worker for twenty years with expertise on the psychosocial issues surrounding physical rehabilitation, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and disaster management.
Artelt is also an ordained Lutheran clergyman with experience in exegesis, the study of a text in its original language, and in parish and social ministries. Artelt received his doctorate at the University of Georgia and is licensed to practice social work in the state of Hawai’i.
